今回は、Iron & Wine(アイアン&ワイン) の7thアルバム (2024年リリース)「Light Verse」からのシングルで、Fiona Apple (フィオナ・アップル) とのフューチャリングした曲「All in Good Time」を翻訳いたしました！
先ずはアイアン&ワインのご紹介から。
アイアン&ワインことサム・ビームさんは芸術の学士号を取得しており、マイアミ国際芸術デザイン大学の映画・撮影の教授として働いていた経歴もあります。ファーストアルバムは2002年リリース「The Creek Drank the Cradle」で、彼の自宅スタジオで作成され、彼の曲はサイモン＆ガーファンクルやニール・ヤングとよく比較されます。
続いてフィオナ・アップルのご紹介。
彼女はアメリカのシンガーソングライターで、1996年～2020年にかけて5枚のアルバムをリリースしており、その全てがビルボードミュージックアワードを受賞、他にも数多くノミネートしています。デビューアルバムは彼女が10歳のときに作曲した曲を収録した「Tidal」(1996年リリース)で、このアルバムからのシングル曲「Criminal」ではグラミー賞最優秀女性ヴォーカルパフォーマンス賞を受賞しました。
芸術的な歌詞に、恍惚な音色。まるで冷たく澄んだ川の水が、優しく心を洗い流してくれるような、そんな美しい旋律が印象的なラブソングです。
