この曲はエルトン・ジョンとバーニー・ピートンが一緒に生活しているときに温めていた作品で、エルトン・ジョンは彼が書いた詩をピアノに座って読んだそうです。この詩をとても気に入った彼は、バーニー・ピートンが朝ご飯を食べている間に、15分ほどで曲を書き上げたそうです。それ以来、彼のコンサートでは「Your Song」は必ず演奏される曲となりました♪
