数々の試練を乗り越えながら、約50年間 (2014年解散) に渡りバンド活動を続けたブルース・ロック (サザン・ロック) の代表的バンド。
The Allman Brothers Band (オールマン・ブラザーズ・バンド)の曲で、「Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More」を翻訳いたしました！
バンド名からもわかる通り、オールマン兄弟を中心に結成されたバンドです。
2人が10代の頃、ギターに熱中していた弟のグレッグ・オールマンが、兄のデュアン・オールマンに教えたことにより、2人でギターを演奏するようになったそうです。
後に、兄のデュアンは自身のファンでもあったエリック・クラプトンから、ギターの才能を評価され、DEREK & THE DOMINOSの最高傑作とされるアルバム「Layla」の曲「Layla aud Other Assorted Love Song」(いとしのレイラ) のレコーディングに参加した経歴もあります！
しかし人気を博した頃、兄のデュアンはバイク事故により命を落としてしまいます。
その悲劇から立ち直るため、彼の遺志を継ぐためにグレッグとメンバーはバンドの再開を決意、そして生前デュアンと共に製作中だったアルバムを完成させました。それが1972年リリース「Eat a Peach」です。「Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More」もこのアルバムに収録されています・・・。
「時間を無駄にするな」その熱いメッセージが、ブルース・ロックのクールなメロディのなかに絶妙に溶け込んだ素晴らしい名曲です。
